I am a Christian and this stuff drives me nuts (pun intended). Sure nothing done in whatever 'ministry' this person is doing. How many suffering people could this person help and actually do something positive in his community? Oh so easy to look @ the speck in your brothers eye instead of the log in your own. Foolish and stupid.

Absolutely no one and nothing positive will ever come of this person.

He's a plane ride from becoming an Islamic jihadist lunatic.

I wonder if this is some sick joke ? While know of the band members strike me as born again types , Phil has often said, "God bless you" at the end of his concerts . I guess that is just to provide cover , while he goes backstage to burn some children ...
Joke or not, the guy is a dickhead , and I suspect Jesus would concur .
To quote another religious tradition , bad karma .

Hey DD--did Phil say that regularly in the latter yrs? [I do NOT want to kick start the "spirituality" debate bout the Boys, but to remind, I was maintaining in the early yrs this was not generally the case].

Pt being, I don't recall it in the 60s and 70s, and wonder if when he went "sober" (assume it was the 80s; his battle with alcohol abuse, new liver, etc., etc.), he used the most widely accepted program, and thus "accepted a higher power", etc., etc.?

No problem with it at all, but wonder if they are "linked"? Might have also been that he was raising a family then, into/thru the 90s/00s, as well...

Tell,
If you listen to any Phil and Friends stuff...
"Thank You and God Bless" are a standard part of his "Donor" Rap. FWIW.....

Got it; interesting...and, with his two "brushes with death" (liver, prostate), makes some sense.

It was somewhere there in the post bottle period, that it seems his personality, changed ( from what little evidence I know) . Age takes the piss out of some of us( some the opposite !), but he does seemed to "mellowed", at least in his public persona , over the years . Remember the Anthem memo , and listen to his stage comments ( say, up to mid 70's) sometimes you get the feel of a pretty arrogant guy . .Yep, the "higher power" thing , is the common way in AA, So maybe quitting the sauce, add wife & kid , brought him to "God", however Phil means it . He certainly seems like a nice guy these day, anyway .
Screw that loony tune, with his child cooking stories .

Oh yeah, I didn't even look at it...

And couldn't agree more on Phil--great guy.

It's pretty common, in my experience, for folks to be relatively "areligious" in youth (at least during the 60s thru to today), then move into a "what does it all mean?" phase with family/death/etc, and find a new answer for them, in whatever form it takes...

Now that you two have mentioned it, I can recall hearing him say it in the past ten yrs in one context or another.
